Hate Watch: Dancing With the Stars: Super Bowl Week (And the Controversy)
I’ve given up on hating some things. I’m not saying I love DWTS, but I definitely look forward to it, despite the gripes I still very much have.

This year, we're taking our 31 Days of Horror across the entire cultural spectrum. We’ll be taking a look at movies that scare us, games that kept us paranoid, scary books we cozy up with under blankets, music that sets that spooky tone and seasonal food we’re craving–or st

Hate Watch - Dancing with the Stars, Week 4: Mariah Week!
Ok, hang with me for a moment. When I started hate watching Dancing with the Stars I never said I could keep up with it. I mean, there’s a new episode once a week, and I can’t just binge it in one day either. Not only that, but you have to look at the TV the entire time so you don’t miss anything. This is very different than the TV I keep on for noise while I do things like edit articles and not do laundry.

31 Days of Horror: House (1977)
Sometimes you just want to sit down and watch a normal, run of the mill horror movie that is easy to follow with plenty of standard issue scares coming at you at a steady clip and totally not a batshit insane trip into a fantastical Japanese countryside where a supernatural house devours a pack of schoolgirls one by one in the most absurd and inventive way. And by sometimes I mean not today be cause we're talking about House (1977).

31 Days of Horror: Don't Look Now
Horror isn't all jump scares, scary monsters, or disturbing imagery. While these motifs are the ones most associated with the genre, and lets be honest are the most fun, not everything falls into those visceral experiences. Sometimes a more nuanced story, with out all these easy to detect scares, are more indicative of the genre. Sometimes horror is just sitting in a pile of grief for the majority of its 110 minute runtime.. That is what Don't Look Now is.

31 Days of Horror: Abigail
Unfortunately this is a movie that was ruined by its marketing. I am not the most strict about going into a movie blind, usually I think if the journey to the spoiler is good, the spoiler isn't actually a spoiler. But for this movie it absolutely is. Too much of the film relies on you knowing nothing about the story, the characters, and in order to enjoy the journey. Which is already a Herculean task in this modern age of everything ends up online from the word go. I think w

Matchbox: The Movie: Less Toy Tie-In, More Discount Fast & Furious
Matchbox: The Movie is barely about Matchbox cars. It ends up being a little bit of Fast and the Furious and a little bit of True Lies meets Grosse Pointe Blank with a small (tiny) pinch of The Road Warrior–but never as good as any one of those films were. It’s also full of the self-referential "wow, that just happened" style humor, and characters that are overused tropes.

Review: Insomniac’s Wolverine Struggles to Find Its Edge
Insomniac aimed for a prestige, character-driven blockbuster, but missed the mark, leaving players with a flawed brawler that never quite figures out who its hero is supposed to be.

31 Days of Horror: Ready or Not
When I first saw Ready or Not, I was completely entranced by its completely absurd brand of horror comedy that follows Samara Weaving as Grace, a young woman on her wedding day as she married into the wealthy Le Domas family. Once the night comes she must play a traditional family game that surprisingly turns into a The Most Dangerous Game riff full of spoilery stuff I won't go into just yet. So, yeah fun!!

Review: False Hero is a Soulslike That Recaptures the Magic of Early FromSoftware
I’m going to be keeping an eye on anything Torchlight Games does in the future, because False Hero is a brilliant game. It’s easily in my top games of the year list, and made me feel that sense of wonder that Demon’s Souls and Dark Souls did all those years ago.

Cloudheim is Gorgeous, Needs Polish
My first impressions of Cloudheim when I saw it was: “Hot damn! What a cool looking game.” While it leans towards a more anime/gacha visual style (not really my thing) I can’t deny how gorgeous it looked in screenshots. It reminded me a bit of Genshin Impact x Legend of Zelda , with creature designs that could be something out of Studio Ghibli. However, games aren’t just as good as their visuals, and Cloudheim definitely has potential. But I can’t help but feel like Cloudhei
